I used a 16V FK - Just make sure that the voltage rating is above the cathode voltage of the tube at the operating point you are using.
You can definitely use your Nichicon cap - i just don't know how it will sound. I tried elna starget (horrible bloated bass), 2 different os-cons (very tight mid-forward and sterile sound) and a philips (ok, but rather bland). In this application the BG was head and shoulders better than the others (and I am not a BG freak).
