As stated I have a 12" sub (elemental designs e120) with dual voice coils. Each coil is 4 ohms. Now my budget for a plate amp is limited to about $200, preferably <=$150. I could by the A350 from rythmik audio or apex sr. and get 250 watts at 8ohms.
Or i could purchase two cheaper 250 watt amps (Dayton SA240) and run each to a voice coil and get ~500 watts which is about the max for the sub.
Which solution is optimal? will I notice a loss of quality from running two cheaper amps? any other suggestions for amps? The sub will be in a sealed enclosure and run off an HT receiver. about 50/50 music/movies.
