The frequency response in that driver's datasheet looks awful (as is the case for many full-range drivers). Does it actually sound much better than it looks on paper?
Yes. Any issues that show up are in the higher registers. Most do not notice — measure is n-axis, you listen off-axis. Some use a filter.
I learned early that provided FR curves tell one one little part of the equation.
The A10.3 we did had a mechanical fix on the driver. ie fully EnABLed.

I myself was surprised how good it sounds. Planet 10 questioned important off-axis listening. In the Eland box, the speaker is placed low below the listening level.

I build open baffle speakers with 4 Tang Band w8-2145 per baffle, based ECdesigns' "design". Satisfied with the results I got a carpenter to make a nicer version.
I recently made a few recordings of the speakers, which are powered by ECdesigns' DAC/Amplifier, and give a pretty good idea of the type of sound which I would qualify as natural and transparent.
The Tang Band drivers perform well in this configuration, and offer a linear response. I do have a few humps in the lower bass (at 40 and 75 hz) on one speaker, as a, result of its placement and room modes.

A media console with two drawer (left and center), a built in sub amp and power distribution for TV, set-top box etc hidden behind the right false drawerfront.
Built with an Arylic 2.1 AMP (a little "beast" of a small amp, with DSP...).
2x Dayton PS95 in closed boxes for the monitoring, and a Dayton DCS 165 as downfiring sub, in 18l vented box.

The PS95 are definately some of the best value for money small drivers.
Ordering a pair right now. Need some simple "monitor speakers" for my synthesisers. Thanks for the hint!
