Maybe for Tool. Most of metal music is poorly recorded and sounds like crap on revealing speakers, at least to me. On the other hand, my friend have all Naim system with Naim Ovator 600 and two Rel subs at the end. Its rock and metal system all the way, very attractive for short listening but tiring for longer

I guess it depends what sub genre of metal you are talking about. Lots of bands I listen to can be found on 7Digital or HDTracks. The ML Motion 40 is not a slouch, and I listen to them for hours just fine. Tool sounds no better or worse than the other bands I listen to. I also wouldn't classify Tool as metal, but that's a different argument.
Metal I listen to: Periphery, Jinjer, Impending Doom, Born of Osiris, Veil of Maya, Lamb of God etc. These bands are established and recording with every bit as state of the art equipment as anyone else. Major labels that pay them make sure of it.

Haha, I kinda figured it was that era you were refering to. Yea bands on big labels these days sound good, and assuming you appreciate instrumentals, all the more reason to have a speaker with excellent clarity and separation. Subs should be filling in the lower octaves anyway, for the full effect.

Thanks everyone for all the information about the frugal horns. I've been lurking a while here and learned a ton.
I have a pair of MA Pluvia PHD and MAOP 7 running in now while waiting for the Mk 3 flat pak from Big Wood Studios. Bob is great to work with so far. Really excited to get these built up and paired with our Dennis Had amps! They only put out 6-8w, but have been pushing some Tannoy Mercury V1's (~86db spl) very, very well.
It's like being a kid again. Will report once built.

O.k.! Got my FHMk3 put together! They are not "finished" but are functional. I put the Mark Audio MAOP 7 drivers in them and they are connected to our Dennis had 6v6 amp and LP3 Pre-amp. The closest thing they sound like that I have heard is an old Luxman P1u Headphone amplifier with the Audeze LCD 2.
I had the drivers since last July and broke them in for over a month on another solid state amp I have.
Everything is just so present and the vocal textures are incredibly rich. Harmonies I've heard many times are just so much easier to distinguish who is singing what, and the clarity makes complicated recordings a joy to listen to while reveling in the rich textures. I'm not sure if what I am describing is attributed to a "flat response" or what, but It's good. Additionally, I was shocked at the imaging, much better than I expected!
I did hook one of them up to an old Cambridge Audio Azur 640A and it didn't sound great. (Speaker definitely revealed the amps shortcomings). The old Paradigm Atom's are definitely a better match with that amp. I may look into building one of the Woden Designs in the future that is supposed to be more forgiving as I have some other paper coned MA 7's looking for a home.
Think I'm going to have a family member who enjoys painting paint some kind of landscape or something to decorate them once I'm done "finishing" them. Have some feet to put on, but I need to flush trim all the edges and maybe round-over the front sides first. I have some grill cloth, so maybe (probably a long time from now) I'll make some custom grills.
I already ordered some Mark Audio MAOP drivers in order to build the FHXL's lol! Really interested to compare them next year, or whenever I get those built.

Well done! I built my FHs with Alpair 7MS drivers but this makes me even more tempted to put MAOP7s in... the cutouts are identical! I'd probably benefit more from a better amp, but that's a $3000 exercise instead of a $300 exercise!
I think you've illustrated perfectly the level of value these speakers provide. I think the $300 exercise is justified, as it creates the opportunity to build another speaker cabinet for whatever driver you don't end up using in the frugal horn. Of course, I'm already planning on doing this so I have an extremely biased opinion. Thinking about the Maeshowe from the Woden Design page.
Got mine from Bob at Big Wood Studio's. Overall was good to work with despite a delay (He had to find a new CNC machine he had access to due to a change in his arrangement). He was really responsive in communicating with. Only thing I adjusted on mine was to chamfer the back of the driver cutout and roundover the two boards that connect internally at the vent.
Looks like he's waiting on a new CNC router per his website to rectify the issue we dealt with last year.

Is this the Jane sized cabinet? the dimensions look slightly different, but it could be the camera angle.

Holey basket Corals would go into FH3. These are almong the best of the FE103A class 4” FRs.
Found in Sony TC500 Tapecorder, and Monarch had a model with 2x16Ω versions. Tapecorder has good oarts for making EL84 class SE amps.
Unfortunately often come with SSS (Stiff Surround Syndrome).
