This is only one of it's clever features. Then have a look at how it's tone stack is implemented and how it can be defeated by the throw of a switch. And any output is of low impedance. Impressive!

I get the impression that with the tone controls engaged, the signal from the tone controls runs through a compressor/limiter of some kind (1/2 12AU7 for producing the control voltage, compression/limiting by the 6L7).

Many thanks Soundhapy for great job ! , by searching your links I found for me one very interesting pdf file related to Japanese Mactone manufacture ,
which describe one AB class ~200W PP amp and one ~60W OTL amp , interesting is that both amps share almost the same front end .

With a tail resistor of just 1k5, it's a short tail pair PI, isn't it?
