Green marker applied on the outer edge of CD improves sound. Others said it doesn't in their double blind test. One should still try it, right? How else will one know?
Yep, I am in favor of trying this simple and cheap tweak.
"We can hear everything we measure, but we can't measure everything we hear. Let your ears be your guide."
That comment was made up because it sounds good. "We can hear everything we measure" in isolation has essentially no context and no meaning.

I asked before about the additive nature of tweaks, folks like those at 6moons have years of endorsements for things "they can't do without". I don't know how their listening rooms have any space left for equipment with all the cable lifters, electromagnetic filters, various crystals and stones, etc. Or how they have time to actually listen after applying all the necessary treatments to everything.

So we can't hear everything we measure?
So we can't hear everything we measure?
So if you're threshold of hearing THD is -130dB you are exceptional. As I have said numerous times I have met audiophiles with a true love of music and do lots of listening and prefer a system that has LARGE amounts of second harmonic distortion (>%10) at normal listening levels.
What is "everything" in that comment?
At the time I measure 22degree Celsius. Can you hear that?So we can't hear everything we measure?

Its not the lower level of something, yes things vanish into the noise floor.
Everything means all the long established measurement criteria for audio.
I think you know what I mean.

I see that phrase used to justify the lack of any repeatable measurement metrics for a device as part of a sales method.

Who said that stupid thing? Were they trying to sell something perchance?"We can hear everything we measure, but we can't measure everything we hear. Let your ears be your guide."

Yes, the usual strawman THD at 1kHz is all you need. In fact you can measure that far below audibility.
It's by someone who sells audio electronics.Who said that stupid thing? Were they trying to sell something perchance?
Say, $20 cable lifter made out of wood, I heard that using those improves sound. Are you up for it?Yep, I am in favor of trying this simple and cheap tweak.
I don't know about you but my time costs quite a bit. At least that's what my clients keep saying. I sure would want to see if it's worth spending my time so that I don't waste it because it's worth a lot.

This is where the phrase started (Daniel von Recklinghausen) and it was slightly changed by someone I know.

Yep, Charles Hansen (RIP) who posted here loved them.
I think you must be in the BS business too since that doesn't answer my questionThis is where the phrase started (Daniel von Recklinghausen) and it was slightly changed by someone I know.

Rick please don't get me wrong, I have no problem with your process and whatever gives you (and I mean you) more musical enjoyment is fine.
You have to remember that Charles said here that cable lifters were the single most effective tweek you could ever do. He was quite adamant in fact, but consider what the cable was lifted from was irrelevant, I guess air is good "stuff" is bad. It also was presented as a fact that should be true for everyone. He even implied that you could forgo a speaker upgrade (even $1000's of dollars). How silly does this stuff have to get?

Thank you Scott, that was a very good post. I can see the point of getting cables off the floor, but I did not know what Charles said about the speaker upgrade. That does seem to be an un-balanced way of doing things.
Small things like tweaks can make music better IMO, but they are not on the same level as upgrading equipment like electronics and speakers. The one thing I have found that falls between small tweaks and large $ equipment changes is power cables. I have heard one power cable change the entire sound of a system.
To my experience, only certain quartz crystals are good; I prefer the chiral crystals from Tibet, tridymite from Caldoveiro Peak in Spain is also good, but you may need slightly more to be as effective.
Don’t forget to place a Shakti Electromagnetic Stabilizer on top of you signal source (I tried under, and the effect was not so good). Music reproduction is clearer, with more liquidity, dynamics and focus. The improved inter-transient silence allows the listener to hear ambient cue information essential for accurate perception of stage depth, width and unwavering imaging.
You can’t beat the combination of Shakti Stones with Brilliant Pebbles.
I agree with you Waly. These things are important.
Why oh why am I still shoveling microwave ****, I am definitely in the wrong business.
I cannot support cable lifters at all. I've done the math. (Just watched Martian)Thank you Scott, that was a very good post. I can see the point of getting cables off the floor, but I did not know what Charles said about the speaker upgrade. That does seem to be an un-balanced way of doing things.

That said, there are significant reasons that a line cord can alter a system response.
