Yet another ultra low noise high PSRR LDO - LT3042

Thanks!
So what? Which option is the "better"?

If you want to make use of the remote sense feature I would just connect it to the output pin at the output connector. The easiest way to do it is to lay out a trace from pin 9 to the output pad between the output capacitors pads, so that this trace enters pin 9 from inside (from the thermal pad side). To do so you will have to use 1206 capacitor pads instead of 0805/1206 combo. I would not bother taking the remote sense off board.

Nice boards...but few ideas to think about.
If you want to use it as replacement - upgrade for 78XX or LM317 or lt1085.. make pins arragement in that way. IN,GND,OUT,IN.
So for 78xx perfect for other 2 regulators you just turn it around and unsolder feedback resistor and replace set resistor with wire in your pcb supply and upgrade is done on your gear.
Also try to left some pcb without screen behind that you can put it on a heathsink for better thermal cooling. So no capacitors behind.
I will use lt3045, costs the same and usable for currents to 500mA.

Thanks for the comments andora76 and OlegSh!
The pinout is just perfect for me (I-G-O), because I'am designing the DAC boards too where they will be used! :)
In my application the LT3042 IC-s will be faced downside (to the main PCB) and on the top I'll stick a little heatsink.
The DAC needs <100mA so this IC is perfect for me.

I'm decided to leave the sense out pin, make just the small trace like on the first (left) picture before. I've studied a lot of other designs too, no one uses it really. If I'm enough close to the supplyed IC, it doesn't has a real sense anyway...

I went and ordered 10 pcs of these (same price as 5) for replacing the old regulators on my buffalo 3se dac.

I managed to destroy four boards learning to solder those lt3042-regulators:D

In the end the solution was to get decent solder paste (kester R276 with lead works well), measure what temperature my heat gun outputs (turns out to be quite a lot less than it is set for) and practise some.

I think the bass has improved, and it was fun. Thanks!
