Moode Audio Player for Raspberry Pi

Hi,
Several people mentioning that previous moode versions with real-time kernel sounded better than moode-4. I‘m experiencing the same.
I upgraded to 4 because i have the kali reclocker which sounded worse when actually used on my old moode 3.4 (or the like).

So while I can confirm that now kali + piano2.1 souns better than piano alone on v.4, i must conclude that the piano without still is superior with my old moode version and real-time-kernel.

If you can obtain (or compile) Moode 3.8.4 you could configure Kali/Piano 2.1 in dual mono mode, which some think gives the best sound.

I would gladly do that but I understood that 3.8.4 is not available anymore.

I don‘t exactly want to discuss my perceivings (what sense would that make?), but rather know about the patches for the rt-kernel, soundcheck, or are they closed source?

This should also work on 4.0.x !?!?
4.0.x - the stock kernel - just lacks 352.8kHz support for this DAC.

I'm running the Kali/Piano2.1 combo somewhat similar.

Beside running the Piano2.1 in Dual-Mono mode, I'd recommend to try some more settings :

1. Enable master clock mode for the Piano2.1 if Kali is used.
This way Piano2.1 makes use of the HQ Kali master clock as reference.
2. Beside that feeding 384kHz upsampled data gets the DACs internal filters
bypassed
3. The use of ON-DAC volume control might be beneficial. The use of two
chained VCs (app and DAC) might impact your sound experience.
Make sure only one is active!

If I'm not mistaken Moode allows to let you make all these adjustments.

Enjoy.

Yes I did that couple of times and I can see the arrows rotate on the browse option for sometime but then nothing happens after that and no file is loaded. Everything else regarding the folder with music files are all fine as with the same NAS location I am able to play music using my Win2012 of Foobar PC. Also even the radio stations I don't hear any music even though it starts playing. By the way I have the Soekris DAC + Amanero I2S in my DIY machine, so when I used the I2S dac as Soekris then nothing plays and after change to "None" as the hint says select none if using USB dac. So none of the options work for the sound output. So the Pi3+Moode is connected via USB cable with (without) jitter bug adapter to the Soekris.

Ok resolved the music files not showing up as my Synology NAS the permissions on NFS file sharing were not setup correctly for the moOde IP :).

Hi,

Provide more details for example what DAC?

-Tim

It's a Denon DA500, but that should not matter. I just want all zero bitstream sent through the SPDIF when no music is playing.

It did that with my USB to SPDIF audio device, the Peachtree X1, but it could have been the programming of that box.

Now I am using the HIberry Digi+ Pro hat and as soon as the song ends, so does any bitstream.

As a break from build related posts..

I have noticed that there is a now an AAC 320K stream for Radio Paradise, you can add this to Moode and see which you prefer the sound of AAC or MP3 ( sorry @soundcheck) not sure there is much in it but I think the bass is 'maybe' better on AAC.

The more interesting news is that for those that had not realised the phone app supports flac so perhaps you can airplay/blue tooth that. Also the Flac will come to the web app and streams in February ( :) )

Hi,

Can you post or email me the url to the 320k stream?

Thanks,
-Tim

Hi,

Not a moOde issue but maybe Hifiberry has a setting for their board.

After scanning and updating my entire music folder from the NAS the moOde now hangs a lot in terms of not playback but when I click and want to configure the settings. The browser keeps refreshing and nothing happens on the screen and I can play the music during this process but the page shows "waiting <ip address>....". Unable to get into the settings at all.

Now after I restart I am getting an error "502 Bad Gateway
nginx/1.10.3" on the browser. What could be the issue has the OS corrupted as I am unable to SSH the Pi, looks like the Beta version is not stable and I need to wait till the month end for the official full release candidate.

As you can see there are 2 streams, one for Europe, one for the US. But is does sound good:
- Radio Paradise - eclectic commercial free Internet radio

Looks like network issue ... do you use ethernet or WiFi ?
Could you try just ethernet to see if it’s better ?
