SynTripP: 2-way 2-part Virtual Single Point Source Horn

Aloha Art and others.

I’m thinking of a home version of the Syntripp.
Drivers: one B&C 10CL51 and JBL 2435 on JBL 2384 WG.
I’m aware of the distortion issue, but hoping that for home use the driver will not produce much of it and can survive the 650Hz loading.
I can easily fit Midwoofers on the side as originals, but prefer to place one only on the bottom part of the horn, as Bwaslo did on his new Synergy, and loaded it from 200Hz to 650Hz. The WG is only 295mm deep (11,6”).
The driver JBL 2435 is 59mm deep. Assume that diaphragm is 10 mm from the top (can’t find exact info) makes it 49mm. The WG 2384 plate is additional 6.1mm, so total is about 55mm.
What do you guys think about it and also - what exact distance (instead of 47.6mm as on original) should be from the throat to the mid-ports referring to attached picture?
Thank you all.
Sergey

Sergey,

JBL's 4622/4622N crosses the 2x15" LF at 750Hz and the HF 2430/2384 at 630Hz.
With the 10" cone contour filled with allowance for X-lim, the acoustic crossover can be around 1000 Hz, with a single 10" the JBL 2435 should have no problem "keeping up".

Make the 10" exit ports as near to the throat as possible.
The 2384 is an interesting "wave guide", have you found any polar charts for it?

Aloha,
Art

Thanks DJK.
Actually I got 2435 and that WG based on your opinion: "2435 in 2384wg sound magnificent from 630hz up".:)
I want to use 2A3 amplifier for that, with 1wt/110Db the high power for home use is not needed.
I have several Synergy projects: PSE 144, the first version of Bwaslo Synergy and I'm still on a middle of his second version, and also interested in finding out the different xover points and improvement of the High End components (if there any).

In previously built the Syntripp test module (means build from garbage) I tried several woofers: single 10" B&C , JBL 2123, vintage Grundig, and pair of 6.5" Isophons, Faital's and Aura's.
Below 900hz both of them sound quite close (Aura was the worst). I think the horn and cutoff frequency dictate the sound there. Of all of them Isophones have nicest and rich tone.
I was also surprised how close the measurement was to PSE144 . Unfortunately can't find all of it, but at least some.

After all those testing I came to conclusion that the midwoofers are not that important, but CD is critical.
I tried several: Celection included in PSY144 and first Bwaslo Synergy model, also 1425 and 1747, PRV and Peerless 2535 and newer was completely satisfied.
It doesn't proof anything - one day I have a dealer of High End audio store from Honolulu come to me to check chinese litlle hybrid amplifier ($230). I connected it to Bwaslo Synergy and he was in shock.
He repeated over and over; "That's is impossible, that's is impossible".
Funny thing is that I had only one speaker!
So the Synergy conception offer some unique qualities, but I really like the sound of 100db+ ribbons and perhaps chasing a dream))).
BTW. That JBL2435 is the first CD that doesn't have the " shouting " sound.

I've found the Celestian CD is not as smooth as I would like, so I am going to give one of these a test.
BMS 4594ND

Overview

The box will remain two way from the amps perspective, with a passive crossover for the 4594ND.

A friends develops speakers and uses these, and suggested a crossover circuit that he believes couples them optimally.

Sergei,
what CD sounded best? I am looking for a CD that is not expensive but has a good overall sound.
I have 4 Visaton FRS5x for the mids.
Thanks!
