6LU8 PP amp build #3
for this build, topology is a Mullard 5-20, 6J9 input pentode wired as triode,
G2 is regulated as well a G1 bias zener regulated...
what can i say? i like it that way...
amp was dead quiet, no hum, no hiss......
all irons used are designed and built by me...
plate choke, g2 supply chokes in a full wave voltage doubler psu configuration...
generous filtering, 1000ufd/450 volts per channel....
and the ltp and input circuits do not share a common psu...

Glow of glass bombarded by electrons?
Nah, just ghosts in the machine. But one of them seems to be slacking...

I'm a bit surprised with the mains trafo's orientation same as OPTs', but if quiet then fine. .. oh, they are 90 degree turned, but anyway, the best in my experience would be the core parallel to chassis.

they are not, the power traffo is lengtwise, the OPT's are upright,
like i said, coil orientation are 90 degrees....
btw, this is one build that worked on first power up, the only thing
i did was to tweak G2 and G1 voltages to get the plates at 10 watts each...

What do you mean?
Actually Tony, with your skill at this time you can change the design of your amplifiers, they are immaculate finish, clean and with the components always well distributed. No error at all but anyway, they are with the same colour. Paint in burgundy or Mustard colour. Red or Pink transformers.. Excellent anyway.
thanks, this is another from the ground up build, all irons made by me,
a power traffo, two chokes and two OPT's....
1.5mm aluminum chassis powder coated dapper grey....
textured grey is what i use now...
voltage doubler psu ising big big caps where B+ for the G2 was derived from...
generous filtering of 1000ufd/450 volts per channel....
psu lines are not shared with the other channel,
each channel gets its own B+ line...
mosfet G2 regulated psu...
zener regulated G1 supply...
Ixys depletion mosfet as CCS for the 6Lu8 triodes...
i am so happy with the outcome, operating points
were very close to where i wanted them...
a little tweak was all i needed to do....

That closest tube isn't glowing blue. It's slacking...
