Sony VFET Amplifier Part 2

Essential, Supplimental kit and transformer for sale

Hi all,

I have an Essentials kit from the second batch, a supplemental kit and an Antek 4222 400 VA transformer for sale. The kits are fresh and untouched, the VFets still in the protective bag, the circuit boards have had no solder yet and the transformer is still in the box. This design is too good to sit in second place whilst I finish a good speaker project. I know some guys are waiting for an opportunity to get this kit and Nelson's work deserves to be enjoyed now.

Selling for costs only (no markup on Nelson's work) but selling together. Let me know if you are interested.

I finished my Pass Sony VFET amplifier. Big thanks to Nelson Pass and diyAudio store making this project possible. I love it, sounds great. Was fun and easy to build also thanks to this forum, the members and all the good info and tips, thanks :).

A quick question regarding R25,26,34,35 resistors which as per the build and BOM it says 221R 1/2W and I have some spare 221R rated @ 1/8W. The same with the R33 can I use 22K 1/2W instead of 22.1K?

Regarding the diodes can I use the "MUR160 DIODE, ULTRA-FAST, 1A, 600V" instead of the regular 1N4004?

R33 is only for Led light so yes you can use 22K is tiny difference.
221R you use always the same BOM wattage or more example 3/4 watts or 1 watts but not 1/8.
Diodes ? Yes MUR160 are OK :)

Thanks, will look for higher or same wattage for 220R (as I unable to get the exact 221R unless I look at element14 which takes a month to order online). Also I see that the BOM lists 1N4004 diodes of quantity 4 but I see that its only 1 per board right or am I missing something?

Hi Manniraj,

I see you are using dale resistors. Would the 1/8W ones be from the RN55 series?
If they are, I would just use them.

I don't see a lot of current going through R25,26,34,35.

Cheers,
Dennis

I brought the entire BOM kit parts as per the Digikey links but missed out on the above items as well as the Diodes, you know why the diodes doesn't have the markings D1,D2 listed on the BOM PDF :)
So I was able to order today some resistors of 1/2 and 1W for 220R and 1/4 W for 22K on R33. Dale I could not as I need to order them via element14 and they will take almost 3 to 4 weeks for shipping and I cannot wait for this amp to make it sing ;)
