Moode Audio Player for Raspberry Pi

Is it possible to make a dual boot system with the Pi.
I'am using moode and Kodi. Now i have to switch sd cards all the time.

HI,

It’s not really possible to have both Moode and Kodi, OSMC, OpenELEC, etc co-exist reliably because they each use a common set of Linux configs but with completely different settings and admin.

See post below for example of dual-boot config that seemed to work for user @kdan

Oh, and for what it's worth, whippersnapper, I too am a baby boomer, a grandfather who has a bit of a job sometimes keeping up with my Silent Generation father as he writes his fiendishly convoluted code and requires me to push the limits of pcb/microprocessor design and integration. Our kids/grandkids/great grand kids can push buttons, but get stymied at the most trivial (to us) stumbling block. :D

Between us we offer follow-the-sun support to our vast diaspora, spread across five continents. Thank the stars for team viewer;)

Brilliant. I wish I had more tech-savvy old folks in my life, then I wouldn't lapse into false generalizations so often! Consider this an apology and a retraction.

Fix your network. A 450 or 600 or 900Mbps router is going to consign your wifi issues to the bin.

...

Do yourself a favour and put in a decent router or repeater.

The moode instance that my father uses is connected via ethernet to a dedicated switch, and the broadcasting mac is connected via wifi to a non-ISP-issued router (can't remember the name, but it's pretty high end and it shouldn't have any of the lag problems you're hinting at).

I wanted this dual boot option for Kodi and Moode too (with no Linux knowledge whatsoever)
I've ordered one of these
Dual Micro SD Card Adapter - raspberry pi wiki

from here

2-in-1 Dual Micro SD / TF Card Adapter for Raspberry Pi - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

My idea is moode mostly for music and radio. Switch to Kodi for films etc:D

Hi Tim, why are you ignoring my sources request?
I would like to remind you that both linux kernel and volumio (from which moode was forked) are on GPL and every modification must be made available with same license and availability... ;)

Hi,

Because I don't have the source. The source tree was deleted by the author thus the kernel is abandoned at this point. I have binaries which u are free to copy off the Moode image when its released.

Tim,

For you to be compliant with the GPL, to be able to provide the source for the binaries you are releasing, I would suggest you fork or clone/push to your own github repo the rpi-4.4.y-simple tree in the next couple of days, please.

Ok, it would have been interesting to see the changes. Respect your project a lot, if I can give my 2 cents the project will benefit if there were some place\repo where to understand and discuss where and why chages have been done.

Hi,

Here is a brief update on MoodeCase project.

Product photography is this Thursday and plan is to have online sales from moodeaudio.org sometime next week :)

Hi Tim - that looks great - just need to get somebody with more nimble fingers that mine to do the braiding.... (where is the cat?). Regards Adrian

Hi Adrian,

Thanks! These custom cases turned out incredibly well. Super-flexible for DIY projects. Industrial strength powder coated steel, DAC and AMP panels, Fender Tele volume knob, ALPS encoder, wall-mount holes on bottom plate, Acrylic front panel allowing Pi3 WiFi to function.

I can provide finished wire harnesses and a "no-soldering required" option for the IQaudIO DAC and AMP boards but at an extra cost.

The cat does my code reviews and QC for the case.

Guys , please take a step back.

Clive , you of all people know how hard we are trying to comply with licensing. You know how much we strive not to be "another far east" company.

Mike , Clive is a very important contributor to the community . Lots of stuff that Volumio is using is a direct contribution of Clive

Enough with the name calling . Volumio removed already all dsp files

Call me stupid , but should we not all work together ? Volumio , Clive. Moode , Pico , hardware manufacturers (I forgot a few)?

Hi,

Attached screen shots show the new Moode 3.0 Audio config, Squeezelite config and System config pages. Thanks to inmate SC for the nice suggestions for improving the UI :)

Note the new setting on System config for CPU governor. Setting the governor to "Performance" runs the CPU at fixed max frequency. The default setting "On Demand" runs the CPU at varying frequency depending on load.

Wow ! better and better and better.....seems the acorn that was Tcmods has grown to a fine and stout MoOde oak. :)

Congratulations Tim !
Your continued development keeps us all on our toes...have to go and find out about this Squeezy thing now :)

Cheers, Bob

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the nice compliment! Much appreciated :)

Offering a killer Squeezelite implementation in Moode 3.0 allows a wider audience to enjoy the pleasures of fine Linux audio. Give LMS (Logitech Media Server) a try, it includes a nice Web client and has a lot of nice features.
