I can't pull up the universal power supply board at the store. Is there an issue with the site?

thanks,
jim

Wow. Yep, I reckon that's the end of the line for our old friend Magento, and remarkable timing. It's literally fallen apart. I might switch to the new store today, without any chassis products (I'm still waiting on final approval to launch), and then make the chassis products available when they are ready to start shipping (January 7th).

if this is in the wrong area, than sorry. Please let me know.

Are the specs for the dissipante 4U, and Deluxe 4U similar (except steel vs aluminum chassis)? I have to ship to Canada and I am trying to offset high shipping cost + low dollar exchange by opting for a cheaper chassis... FYI: it will be used for a DIY AB V2.4 with soft start, and 1 PSU.

Regards,
Tim

Disgard: The reason I couldn't "add chassis to cart", is because it wasn't available in the format I chose. I was looking at different options when I was on my PC.

Still interested in the questions regarding the difference in chassis, but went ahead and ordered a (previous generaton) Deluxe 5U that was on sale :)

At least I have room to expand now :)

Deluxe is the same as Dissipante 4U, 300mm with 3mm Aluminum Covers and back panel, but has:

* Base included
* Heatsinks tapped
* Front panel drilled (8 tapped threads and 1 LED pilot hole)
* Back panel CNC cut
* Top and bottom covers CNC cut (6 rows)
* Extra screws included so the base can be used upside down

Also, An FYI:
Store works perfect on my Windows PC, but I am unable to complete the "add chassis to cart" on my BlackBerry z10, or Amazon Kindle hdx. All none customization items seem to work fine..not a big deal, just letting you guys know!

Probably because they don't support AJAX or something... thanks for letting us know. I'll find out if it was one of my many modifications that broke it or this theme doesn't work with those anyway. It should at least have deprecated functionality, so.. thanks for the report.

Ah, yes... it could be more obvious when a specific combinations of options are not available. There is a modification that can be done that will delete any impossible option combinations, I'll look into it.

Thanks for the Feedback, it's appreciated!

Is the DISSIPANTE 4U a stripped down version of the 4U Jack of All chassis of old and is this the chassis one can use for most of the Firstwatt clones as the 4U Jack of All Chassis. If so this is a good price.

The old Deluxe 4U "Jack of all Chassis" is the same as Dissipante 4U, 300mm with 3mm Aluminum Covers and back panel, but has:

* Base included
* Heatsinks tapped
* Front panel drilled (8 tapped threads and 1 LED pilot hole)
* Back panel CNC cut
* Top and bottom covers CNC cut (6 rows)
* Extra screws included so the base can be used upside down

We now have a Chassis FAQ which we are slowly adding new questions and answers to as they are asked. Please do keep the questions rolling in.

If there's anything other than this you would like clarified please let us know.

Thanks Jason. This is what I thought and for a case with heat sinks this is a great deal for diy'ers that do not mind drilling and taping themselves and also saving some money. As Nelson said once, diyer's are a cheap bunch. For a one time builder that just wants a good amp the Deluxe 4U is probably the better choice with less work. Just buying heat sinks alone is going to cost over $100 and one still has to build and design a case.

:up:

Jason,

For the Dissipante 2U chassis and aluminum covers option, is there a way to purchase it so that both top and bottom covers do not have ventilated slots?

Thanks,
Anand.

There will be next week or shortly thereafter. We'll be adding a lot of new substitution options, including all sealed covers, "tube style" (one vented one not), UMS heatsinks for all 4U and 5U (and eventually 3U) dissipante chassis, as well as "Deluxe" style CNC cut backplates and front panels. Much more of a "build your own adventure" and fully embracing the flexibility we have now we are working more closely with Hifi2000.

Greetings,
This various FirstWatt board kits, etc., are available in the store. From what I can see, though, there are certain components that are very hard, if not impossible, to find at this time. Specifically the F4 (and others, which use some of the same stuff). Bill of materials, yes; N and P-channel input JFETS maybe not so much. I think the 'N' has a readily available substitute.
Is it possible for someone such as myself, who's made a career of being just a bit late to the game, to actually find the parts to still build these without reinventing a workaround and/or could someone direct me, within the forums or outside, to where I might find encouragement to realize this?
Thanks in advance.

Am I missing something here? I'm trying to purchase from the diystore but do not see a paypal payment option!

What gives?

We don't accept PayPal anymore due to the high fees involved (an additional 2% in our case and PayPal doesn't allow you to charge a surcharge). That said, if PayPal is your only or strongly preferred option, that's no problem and we can perform a manual order for you. Just email your order to support@diyaudiostore.com and let us know you would like to pay with PayPal and we will send you a PayPal invoice. There will be a small fee for the manual processing. If you don't have PayPal or a Credit Card, we can also manually accept International Wire/TT transfers and within the US intra-US bank transfers directly to our bank account (Bank Of America).
