Hello Joro.
Boards received today. I didn't have the time to play with it except to install the drivers. I've changed two usb cables before windows accepted to install. I thought this USB receiver can only accept DoP signal for DSD but even native DSD over ASIO was OK. Looking forward to further experimentation. At the moment my BIII is connected in synchronous way so I will try to squeeze max out of this combo before connection to buffalo.
Best regards.

Hi Joro,

1-When using a Buffalo II/IIISE DAC using I2S, do we have to power pin 12 with 5V of the BII/IIISE?
2-Does Pin 5 need to be tied to Pin1 through external R3 4.7kΩ configuration resistance?
3-What about Pin 6 configuration for the ES9018 (BII/BIIISE)?

Any other option you think would need to be set? I'm asking because this is likely to be one of the most popular DAC people will use with your XMOS PCB aside your own DACs. I do own a BII and eventually looking for a BIIISE.

BTW, the AK4396 DAC I bought from you is really good!!!

Thanks
Do

1. Yes, you can power pin 12 of XMOS board with 5V from BII/BIII, but you may put resistance 5 or 6 Ohm to 5V line, but it can and without it.
2. Yes, you have to tie external R3 4.7kΩ configuration resistance between pin 1 and pin 5, this is because right configuration of channels.
3. If you mean to use LJ input for BII/BIII - this configuration is not needed.

Joro

hi joro
what are the differences in sound signature between the PCM and the AKM dac boards?
What is the power supply requirements for the dac boards?

There is option for 3 separate power supplies on the xmos board? What are the Voltage and ampere requirements ?

thanks
