Since I have ordered and received a couple of these buffers and am in need of a PSU right now, I have done a quick layout of a simple +/-18VDC PSU.

Will this PSU be sufficient / good enough?
If so: I will order a couple of my PSU-PCBs and will distribute them to whom will have them.

Yes that will do, modern 3pin regulators are quite good, some people will claim better results with 317/337's you could try that. Although it is not possible to beat a 'Paradise'-style shunt regulator, but you can always update to that.

The 78xx/79xx series of voltage-regulators is not bad at all!

I will order 10 PCBs , no more, and will not make it a group buy.
One PCB will cost 5€. Worldwide shipping is 3.45€.

I will keep 2 PCBs for myself. How many PCBs do you want to have?

Hi Rudi, see the picture from a 16bit soundcard test done for LM317. Only difference is routing/layout no more cost. Also realized for 78/79xx series, and choosen if one wants.

The message is, make a star ground, with the star point near to the load. From there on it may get more complicated but for the Q&D that will do.

BYRTT, I have layouted a starground-scheme.
Does this one suit your eyes?
If so, I will order 10 PCBs.

Bill: the PCB uses a small, so-called: "print-transformer" with EI42 - footprint.
I do not believe that a transformer like this is available in the United States.

Rudi, BYRTT,

The one thing that I do not like is the proximity of the HV (primary) wiring to the LV circuitry. Can you rotate the transformer 90deg left and then move it north, then move the HV connector and fuse south of the transformer, that will create good separation.

If you use a rectifier like this http://www.mouser.com/ds/2/345/rs101-rs107-7906.pdf then the circuit can be compressed, a little, east-west to accommodate for the rotated transformer.

Moving the grounds of the regulators, on a separate track, to the output connector is very good.

Think that looks very good and at local PCB output pads bring better specs, good soldering.
PS Did not notice the HV thing mentioned by member FdW, logic says me it's good to follow his experience and suggestion.

Gentlemen, it has never been my intention to layout the "optimal small-current, fixed-voltages - PSU".
This is something that the guys of the PowerSupplies - forum know better to do than me.

I have nevertheless changed the layout, adopting the recommendations of FdW.
