sound of discrete opamps

Am I having fun yet? You bet I am.

Présomptueux ? Vous ?

''although I frequently disagree with people, I find it upsetting, and then I don't come on for days'' (http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/equipment-tools/218359-setting-up-laptop.html#post3148769 )

At 63, it may be more sensible to check blood sugar & pressure level more often, than sound like the average Vinegar Joe once every five times.
Your frequent semi-intellectual dribblings are rather boring, btw, about as interesting as the words of a narrowminded EE PhD Limey, who talks about a Zen book he hasn't read.
Who are you kidding, Mr Hitler :clown:

You have to excuse me, for being a total and utter savage, with a complete lack of breeding.
Only merits I have are remembering what was said when, at which part of the page, plus reading Proust in the original version.
(in my line of business, your attitude would have put you at risk of getting beaten senseless by a 300lb tattoo stamp collection, and violated afterwards. Unless you're a customer, but that's rather expensive)

OK no worries Jacco, I guess i'm a bit touchy and I havent got a full handle on you yet either ;) I gather thats the idea. its a difficult line to walk here, often having to justify yourself to both sides; sounds like you know what i'm talking about... plus the peanut gallery was ******* me off.

Hmm, I wonder where all the lecturing Parents I mentioned earlier have gone?

Jealous jacco? It's remarkable how often I find revealing just how OK I am results in yet another game of 'I'm not OK, you're OK', or as I like to think of it 'fix me next please.'

Unfortunately, while I find it flattering that the merest word I utter has become the cud upon which you nourish your ruminations, flattery, as they say, will get you nowhere.

Go fix yourself.

Mr CC,

despite not lagging that many years behind, afraid I still haven't matured to your level, and likely never will.
Jealous of your advanced age, superior intelligence and expertise maybe, or the repeated posts with a condescending nature ?

If you enjoy savo(u)ring the roleplay of l'éminence grise at the web that much, which you unmistakably have a deep craving for, judging by a number of your posts, be my guest, but then please act and behave accordingly.
Hang on, you might even become the Pater Familias with a freebee 3G cell phone.

Me, I have 30 days left of a 2-year probation period, 6 months suspended sentence for what you folks call serious bodily injury.
What to say, I have a tendency to Fix others in the real world, if they experience behavio(u)ral issues.
Then again, I don't really take myself that serious, the virtual unreality doesn't upset me in any way, and by no means makes me lose a minute's sleep over it.

You on the other appear as some piece of work.
Posting half a page of blabber, containing as many fancy words of your vast vocabulary as you can possibly squeeze in.
Trying to impress folks with your eloquent speech, as an evasive action to prevent you from getting all web-excited and having to switch off a month again maybe ?
And if that doesn't help, your final resort is posting infantile oneliner remarks ?
At your respectable age, that reads as somewhat pathetic to me, your eminence.

But what do I care, I'm just about the crudest present at this forum, and they'd throw me out if I posted naked body parts again.

Cordialement, à votre service,
Le Sauvage.

(or is your Frenchie parler limited to Moi only ?)

derailed discussion is obviously derailed

This isn't a discussion, it's a bunch of guys rehearsing positions we've all heard dozens of times before. So entrenched are the ideas that when pried forcibly off track veiled threats of physical violence are unpacked.

Aaaaaw. I was enjoying that. Gimme back my dummy! I don't like this, this is unfamiliar ground for me.

If by some miracle the audiophile controversy were solved overnight, you wouldn't have anything to talk about.

qusp, owdeo, now you have something in common.

OK, get on with it.

veiled unpacked.

Mr CC,

you need a head recalibration and a memory bank reboot.

The 1st [veiled] comment I posted, pointed to a smug remark you made about your work surrounding some time ago, also between [ ] brackets.
The 2nd one was merely intended to illustrate that some folks at this forum don't bother to pretend.

FYI, in the swamp I popped up, it's English class in 1st grade secondary school, at age 12.
And German, at 12.
And French, at 12.
If so desired, Latin and Greek, at age 12 !
And if so desired, Spanish in the 3d grade, or Italian.

The [Moi] teaser referred to the "professional" comment you made about the Dutch language end of 2011, at a thread on the Hypex service desk.
And it was indeed intended to provoke you.

It only took me 2 posts, for you to make a fool of yourself in "public".
Little recreational itch of mine on occasion, if you'd been here a bit longer you had known about my fondness for word games, no physical abuse required.

Your last post on this thread also clearly demonstrates that you're the kind of person who never admits he was wrong, clear lack of integrity.

"Z"-ie Gauner. (you're welcome to look that up as well. :clown:)

You could ask yourself why a (as good as) retired 63-year old telecom guy spoils his time on a thread about discrete opamps.
Why does he ridicule and belittle others members ? (and has done so on various occasions in his relatively short stay at this forum)
What's the catch, that he adresses Mr Curl with contempt ?

It's not just for being a RF bloke, EE or otherwise.
There has been an illustrious telecom duo at this forum, and they treated Mr Curl respectfully.
The sound of discrete opamps, and non-discrete, has all to do with integrity.

On discretes:

a thing that has rarely been mentioned is dynamics, spec sheets can look really impressive, but are static shots with the best lighting.
Nothing beats cubic inches, even at a constant 60mph, a V8 is preferable to a straight four in-line (provided they're same generation).
Unfortunately, most discrete opamp designs are aimed at competing with dip8 in size and/or cost, instead of innertia.
(ones I fiddle with are 10sqi minimum, bit smaller if I can squeeze it in a 4-layer board, cost a multitude of 797's)

Other point is balanced operation, discretes can be trimmed/matched up in pairs. Like balancing L+R front wheels of a car.
There are work-arounds for that with IC opamps also, e.g. cross-correction, but the less to wander, the shorter the way back home. (similar to rpm/thrust synchronisers for left-right propulsion systems of yachts & all other vessels)

Jacco, that's the reason why french language remains - since 400 years 'til nowadays - the diplomatic language ... with 60000 words, any "je ne sais quoi" and other subtle expressions didn't find any translation somewhere else ;) ... remember this example : le fond de l'air est frais :)

the diplomatic language

Oui, très agréable.
At the Homecinema-France forum, I'm pleasantly surprised each time I attend, how friendly and respectable the communication is there.
Oops, due time to give Breizheau a grand bisou again. (maybe folks here should practice a bit of baiser)

Not merely the language, imo.
A location just under Bordeaux used to be my regular summer holiday stay, the newspaper stand there ordered several issues of the Nouvelle Revue du Son for me, whether I showed up that year or not, without me ever asking them.

(quand j'invite une jeune fille, c'est juste pour jouer aux 'grande quille')
