Retro - A fully symetrical phono stage with RIAA filter

Retro

Ok so thanks to Brian and Russ I have wima caps that fit the board better. They also sent a pair of the opa 1632 to replace the 1623 I ordered by mistake. But I have no sound! I have no doubt installed the IC wrong but I have looked at datasheets and cant figure out what I did wrong. The dual placid bp are at 15v and 250ma. I am using the output as SE (rca) for now. I have the denon dl103r + to the + in and the earth to - into the boards. Out of the board is + signal to center pin of rca and the ground out to the ground of the rca. Heres a pic of the ICs. Any idea what I did wrong?

I was able to fix the Retro with the help of a chisel tipped iron! I bypassed the $3 caps with some soniccraft 0.1 uf caps. Sounds good so far. A bit of hum, what can you expect in the open air! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I used a longer board and gave the boards more room. I also twisted the transformer leads and made a steel cover. Definitely reduced the hum. I think I will order soniccraft caps for c1 and c2. Are there other parts worth looking at for upgrades? It sounds very nice and balanced. Thanks for the great TPA gear. Now I need a preamp with 2 xlr inputs.

I've been running the placid voltage at 15 and shunting 90ma to power the retro. Any advise or is this ok? Gain is lower than the Buffalo/legato when using the soundsmith retipped demon dl-103r. The preamp is at about 2 o'clock with the retro whereas it is at about 10 o'clock with buffalo. Its fine but lower in output. Sounding very good.

Perfectly fine :) As long as the voltage is not sagging.

Very pleased you are enjoying it.

Kewl! I love vinyl!

Yeah, them .3mV cart's need some boost! I like around 60-68dB gain with the low outputs.

I stuck my 103r in an aluminum body. It is made by one of the Lenco forum guys in Hong Kong. I'll planning to try a Ruby Cantilever upgrade from Soundsmith after my Dyna 17D3 wears out.
