My SSA has changed quite a bit now i set the VAS current through mirrors and use Hawksford cascodes on both input and VAS.

My output is a combination of Fets and Bjts...
Hi MiiB

I agree in full regarding CCS enabling correct current adding compared to resistor, as well as the exact soundwise perception mentioned.

So is your SSA still yours preferable amp in the system or just a reserve to ... (model)?

BTW next wednesday will have an audio club in Ljubljana (Vklop Ubiq Audio) and we'll listen SSA/NC400 on your C 1.1 speakers. You're welcome.

Cool... I will build another SSA-LATFET amp tonight. After that I will go back to SSA-BIPOLAR (CFP) again... :) Last weekend I built 5 bipolar amps and I fell in love with the sound of Toshiba 2SC5200 :D

Wow, I think, by the time I have completed my project, it will have taken about 2 years to finalise every aspect of one Amp / PSU design !

This means you are building amps 1,825 times faster than me - perhaps I should go faster :D

I didn't build amps to retain it. I used modular power supplies, trafos, heatsinks full with transistor pairs, pcbs, etc.

When I was a lot younger, I print a schematic and do a PTP wiring based on that schematic (now with children, I cannot put 220V wiring on the floor). Nowadays I have to draw the part orientation first. But I have an inventory of the most common topology PCBs. I have many modular power supply etc. I have complete parts. So it is not that long to build an amp. I will only build the real thing if I'm satisfied with the prototype (after serious tweaking). But it seems it probably (will) never happen :bawling:

CSA first test

well ...

An prototype CFB, all bipolar. :)

Thanks for a short explanation.

I give you more, CSA prototype on testbench, front-end plus mosfet drivers, compensating scheme done, bias set to 38 mA through IRF drivers, stable with only few pF on four different places. Offset stable, VAS bias stable, drivers bias stable. Next step to add the output bipolars, but as expected probably nothing will change.

To stop arguing at nauseam against a troupe of voltage feedback sectarians, (please L.C. don't believe those guys, they are in bad faith ;-) i had made an other sim between a VFB and a CFB version of the same AMP.
The amp was chosen in one of the LTSpice examples. Worth of the situations, as not symmetrical.

Once more, it has produced the same expected results: a HD distortion slightly decreased, and a bandwidth increased (here, again by an order of magnitude).

Found too an interesting article witch have attired my attention to look more carefully at common mode rejection in amps:

Naf.... I see you have it in your simulator... Why don't you run it and check for currents soa ect. your self... Asking somebody to check your work without the tools is kind of rude... This DIY and NOT We spoonfeed you everything.
Dear MiiB, please don't get me wrong.
I'm new to this electronic world, start to learn 2011.
I learn as hard as i could, even i don't know that paralelling zener diode is big no no (thank to sir Esperado and Shaan).

Try to using ltspice just two month ago.. that why I ask sir LC because i'm not sure with part value in my sim. Left pic is SSA BJT (with blank value, this is my based). I try to fill the value as i could. Why I ask sir LC? he is the inventor of this simply beauty amp. Do my asking "if he have a time to check" is kind of rude?

And if you or anybody think i've asking to much that's fine... no problem. Everybody starting as newbie.;)
