All wired and ready to go!
I'll post measurements soon, I have to do it outside, and its been rainy here :(

Ah ah ! A dedicated thread...

What's the wiring then ?

edit : just as I type, the answer came.

I knew you'd stop by Radugazon ;)
I wanted to start a new thread using img code so that everyone could see the pics. not just us members. Also spreading the ambiophonic love.
I haven't tried any matrix wiring yet, I still haven't properly tested them yet. I've only done in room measurements because its been raining here constantly. I have to test them outside.
But, so far its all I hoped it would be :D

Cool build- have you considered alternating "magnet side forward, magnet side back"? This might have some influence on the action of the array at high frequencies, and present some diffraction, but on the other hand, would present some even-order distortion cancellation, and a more consistent FR on the front vs. the back.

Thanx Poldus, if you ever want to visit Florida......
You have a place to stay buddy!

Hey Melo!

CRAZY PROJECT!!!

With all that hookup wire and DSP active xover action...

Have you heard of Don Keele's CBT Arrays?

If not...

YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE THIS MATERIAL

Your design is like in terms of effort like... 80% there to get to CBT performance but without the physics and maths/Legendre functions/shading!

Don and PE put on a lecture about CBT technology as well and it's on youtube. Don's best presentation though is the one in Boston at IEEE.

I haven't heard one yet but just looking at it scientifically it's really really impressive stuff and off axis measurements are just INCREDIBLE as the array behaves like a bloody POINT SOURCE that's like 10 feet long extending through the floor!

JUST INSANE STUFF

My god I want to hear those PE CBTs or better yet a design using highend drivers.

The driver count and active DSP xover really makes this speaker type expensive.

I can envision a small modular chainable Class D with native digital bus between each module being developed that could really make CBTs something.

You could do shading on the DSP level and have a flat front baffle without the curvature right. Remember Legendre shading isn't a FR change bro it's a bloody dB change or simple pad!

It would be so easy to implement if you had a common bus controlled amp at each speaker with DSP. Heck all you'd need is a lower power class D in around 20W max right.

The key here is the digital common bus between each module and the DSP.

I'm amazed JBL is sitting on some of those patents and haven't done **** with it.

PS I have like 10 utility patents flying around in my head regarding cabs and amp modules etc in a mechanical sense for a module speaker design that scales using this technology physically like lego blocks let alone all the DSP patent potentials to take advantage of Don's and the Navy's "Legendre shading".

Sure, it's a focused array, set for a 9 foot distance.
There are 4 channels on the 1 panel. The top outer 8 drivers on each outer side are crossed over to 18 drivers on the corresponding side. The top 8 drivers are actively crossed at 300Hz, 1st order. They are the ones running RACE.

Thanks. So if I understand you right you are only listening to this one speakerset right in front of you (like extended earphones :) )

I've googled on RACE, but can't find anything that gives meaning. Could You please fill me inn?

Anyway, I think your design is über-cool, and a bit crazy :)

Hi, yes that is correct. There is 1 speaker directly in front, 9 feet away.
Right and left channels are included in the 1 panel.

Recursive
Ambiophonic
Crosstalk
Elimination

Thanx so much or the compliment.
It is a crazy design.
Its something I've had in my head for a long time, I was actually working on an omni and right when I was just about finished, I said screw it and built this thing instead.
I still have to finish the omni  all it needs is paint and grill cloth, oh and a good cleaning, its covered in cobwebs.

Ha ha :D Wonderful.

Im trying to get my head around this:

Recursive
Ambiophonic
Crosstalk
Elimination

Guess it is a way to send righ-speaker-signal to right-side-ear etc.
