Hi Dave- I would like to try some full range drivers with the SSE, but I don't think it will happen any time soon…. My amp will be making a short local road trip to see how it powers some other speakers. A friend of mine has a pair of Daedalus Athenas that are amazing. They use a Fostex full range driver for the midrange. They are quite sensitive at 94db so it will be an interesting test. I have another friend with some 94db Coincident total Eclipse speakers at 94db that we will try too. I'm pretty excited.
Nate
I heard some Daedalus speakers at RMAF a few years ago, they were very good... I think both Daedalus and Coincident use 1st order xovers so should be good with the SSE. These are the Omegas I have (Super 5 XRS in link below), they are about to be upgraded to new 95 dB drivers. Omega is in CT, if you're ever in the area I'm sure you would be welcome to bring your amp by. The synergy with the SSE is amazing and they perform WELL above their price point.

Great looking build!
When you say "soft" aluminum is that 6061 or some other number Online Metals uses?
I love the sound of my Simple with original Svetlana 6550s; better sounding than the quite good, and cheap, E-H 6CA7s I began with.
I use my simple with Wayne Parham's design 4Pi speakers, 97 dB, that I did in walnut veneer. 6 watts really rocks the JBL 2226s and B&C horns!

Hi Bill,
Yeah, I bet that rocks. I have long been considering building a pair of Wayne's corner horns 7Pi would be perfect, but I don't have the right room. I could use more sensitive speakers, but these are very satisfying and the bass is amazing and much more defined and extended than my old Audio Research D125, which is crazy as that amp put out 110 watts of tube power per channel. How do you like the B&Cs?? I have parts for a more efficient speaker project. I have two pair of BG NEO10s, a pair of NEO3PDRs and four Peerless XLS 8" woofers. Best that I can tell, this will get me into the 93db range and with active bi-amping for the woofers, I should have all the headroom that I could wish for. This project is a long, long way off.

....and a 4 bay mclapp home-brew antenna. I built 2 of these, one for inside the house and another outside for two different TVs. Both use a high-gain antenna amp to pick up stations 70 miles away. They work great. Just about the best $5 antenna out there.
