F5 power amplifier

Hey!

Ive Put a 5v Led in line with the positive PSU 24v with a nice resistor, now my friend says that when that light lights up the amp sounds worse! any idea lads ?
anyone got any suggestions on the best way to Rig A or a few Leds up to the F5 ,without needing another psu LOL

Was thinking of putting two extras inside the case to make it look pretty :D

Ouch. need some help here. i was wiring up a Volume Pot to the F5 and it seemed that there was a problem with the earthing, as i turned the volume down to 0 on one channel i could hear the radio! and hum in that channel, then it started smoking on the 0.47 ohm resistors, i quickly turned it off!

We do have very long wires so i presume we had oscilation going on or something.

8 Meters to the speaker, and computer to amp 7 meters. the other channel that didnt oscilate has only 1 meter to the speaker

How much current are you expecting thru your LED? How much voltage do you mmeasure accross the nice resistor?

Was that an AM radio station? If you have the bandwidth, and I think you do, and if you have some gain, of coarse, and if you have some non-linearity or diode fuction... Sure, you have .5-1.5MHz being demodulated and filtered into AM radio. You probably have wires to long, this will improve the signal voltage. You need short wires. Esppecialy to the Gate of all the FETs. You should also have your gate stoppers as close to the output FET gate's as possible, .5-3cm or so is good.

Disaster!

I tested everything twice, everything looked good.
Then I hooked up my speakers and preamp... within 10 seconds there was smoke from one channel. Now I measure the output and it seems shorted (38Ohms between output)....

What went wrong here?????

EDIT: Correct that.... I measure 38Ohms on between output and gnd on the smoking channel... and 30ohms on the non-smoking channel! Still there was smoke! I am afraid to start it up again... what should I check before I start on the bench? (no speakers of course now!)

You didn't use a lightbulb mains lead...

Ok, so let's troubleshoot.

First things first, please post lots of clear, in focus, well-lit photographs. Without that troubleshooting will be very difficult.

What PCB did you use? What transformer, where did you get your transistors, what PSU PCB if any?

I used the bulb when testing on the bench. The problem i had when using it, was that my sjostrom softstart doesn't work with the bulb when in connect both channels. So i tested each channel separately with bulb... No issues there.

I think the psu is ok, because one channel worked fine (even heard music).

The transistors came from h_a (gb on the forum).

I can post pictures in an hour or so. The only thing that was changed between benchtesting and the smoke incident were hooking up the speakers and source...

These are both of the smoking pcb...
