regarding low frequencies,
if your audio has gone thru a tape recorder at some point it has no audio lower than 27hz, on a good day and it only goes that low on a few excellent machines. I just set up a studer A800 today, it rolled (fell) off at 37hz at 30ips and probably about half that at 15ips. Its a matter of physics.
the roll off and corresponding phase shift are what a lot of people like about the sound of using tape in production. Its also what a lot of people are chasing in their digital system!
not saying that excellent LF REPRODUCTION isn't a good thing, just don't obsess over it. (note the emphasis on reproduction, different than production)

No disappointment here - just didn't make much sense to blame hypex before you had measured your power supply properly. So you do see a 50/100 Hz ripple, do you see any high frequency induced back voltage from the switching?
wow, you seem so gladSo my friends I am sorry to dissapoint you . The NC 400 I made measure exactly the same with Scoop . Voltage is 59,5 V plus 1,5 v peak/peak. So I was right. "Way beyond resonability ".
Another thing --- the owner of this NC think my Coldamp is very very much better than NC.
Well the guy who measured did not try to measure any high frequency. We had only few minutes.
When I got my Coldamps they did not sound as good as this NC thats for sure.

Well they have faults. But they have the ability to chock you . Hypex do not . Maybe 990 VA and 60.000 uf. just ain;t enough. I know Hurtig will say 100 VA and 30.000 uf. is more than enough !
Have you never waited for a transient wich you know will come but still you are shocked when it accurs ? Like a Friday the 13 movie ? That Hurtig Guy posted some pictures yesterday in this tread.

nCore monoblock, feedback wanted

I'm a DIY beginner, and I have been toying with the idea of building nCore monoblocks in a simple chassie. I thought I'd get some feedback to see if I'm on the right track.
The chassie I'm thinking of is this one: The Modu Slimline 2U 435mm x 170 mm
modu. It should give me plenty of space in all directions to comply with distances for high power devices etc.
Here's a mockup of the layout that I have in mind. I'd really like your thoughts on which way around to mount the nCore and SMPS for best cable routing.
If any of you have ordered from Modu before and would like to share back panel layouts, I'd be very grateful.

If your amp gives you a shock, I think you need to reconsider your ground topology
Looks good to me - with that much space, it should be pretty straightforward.
No power switch?
This is an area where class D and SMPS, with their inductors and HF switching, are much better suited than linear stuff... Now, if we just change the transformer ratios a bit... I can see ways to provide a truly electrifying experience in the spirit of Nikola Tesla...

Yes, I think I need a power switch. Was thinking of getting a combined IEC socket and rocker switch, to keep it simple. Is that good or bad?
