I'm wondering where to find 'those' stuff? And, before buying, what's the expectation?

I have an impression that it seems in (wealthy) western countries, it's very easy to come across badly made and dishonestly marked products from China. Meantimes people keep buying, dumping and laughing at them...

OK, maybe it's just so hard to avoid because nowadays almost everything is made in China. But, why on earth do you really need an 8-ch amp which is branded with a name no one knows and an impossible spec/cost ratio? Or a 15" woofer with questionable specs just because that magic word in the name? (Has anyone noticed the web page style? Just a copy of another brand! )

Don't you have any doubt before buying them? Or, oh I know, you guys are so rich that experimentally trying this and that does zero harm to your personal finance. And it's fun. Just dump them when it's no more fun.

And then, it's definately no fun when being drowned by garbage, garbage all over the world. What do they call that? Globalization?

Just don't buy those things you don't really need. They bite, eventually. And it'll be sooner than expected, by the big helps of 'globalization'.

By the way, Tangband is based in Taiwan. Despite being a local, I haven't bought any of their products. They have very good reputation. I believe people are happy with them. They just don't fit my needs.

As to those no name amps with shiny panel and knobs, I see them in the shopping malls from time to time. I got zero interest to adjust my route to get any closer.

same ole BS issue brought again

that's just matter of Law of Numbers ;

considering that enormous sum of articles/products is made in China , one can gain impression that anything from China is junk , just because it's easy to see plenty of China junk ;

but - there is no supporting logic for thinking that good/bad ratio is even for jota greater than for any other economy ;

working as repair techie for more than 25 yrs , I had my hands in junk from all over the world .

If I started an audio company in the USA tomorrow named "Bows" and made cheap copied wave radios out of the guts from Teddy Ruxpin toys, how long do you think I'd be in business before I was sued into oblivion?

Now, remember that number, and imagine I started the company in China.

It's not pure economics, it's also the legalities. Sure, every country has companies that make junk. I don't have a problem with that.

The problem I have is with companies that make utter trash that looks like another company's quality product - and then turn around and lie on the packaging with a sticker that says it's worth $2000 and it's made in another country. The sad fact is that a huge percentage of these deceptively marketed products come out of Asia, which makes it extremely difficult to weed out the odd quality product. From the few comments early on in this thread, it seems that the driver in question may in fact be a deceptively marketed copy of another driver.

At least the Radio Shack cd player doesn't say "MSRP $4000" and have a Krell logo on it.

We don't live in utopia.

In some ways, it looks like a civilized world, but it's still a jungle, a big one. And we are making it bigger and harsher that we can't escape and can't fight against.

In the " beautiful " mother nature we're from, there're all kinds of (sneaking) preditors, (hidden) parasites, let alone those never ending battles in each and every living body - bacteria, virus and various cells are eating one another alive...

The whole world is no different.

It's just the globalization speeds up and enhances the effect. Those who are strong and fast can ride the convenient paths to grab resources in long range and large area; while those who are weak and slow can only hide themselves and wait for chances.

Globalization is too big a thing I can't criticize. It's an existed fact. To any individaul, it can bring more bad than good, or the opposite. We can only deal with it.

As far as I know the esoteric American loudspeakercompany Revel made their overpriced products in China.

This is not the only Western-world company doing the same, all to maximize profit.

Other examples of American and Canadian companys doing the same but in carbonfibre is worldfamous bikeframe maker Cervelo and numerous golfclubmakers. This probably due to our workers wouldn´t accept to work under such unhealthy conditions as the Chinese do.

I understand that. There are lots of cheap products. Everyone makes them. my house is full of them - kitchen appliances, furniture, lamps, toys - It's not a big deal when the price tag is in line with what you get.

I don't have a problem with "Cervelo" carbon fiber bike frames coming out of China. I might even be comfortable buying one. What I have a problem with is seeing a carbon fiber bike frame in a "Ceveloh" box that says $2000 on it "Made in Italy", and when you open it, it's plastic with carbon fiber looking stickers on it.

OT: I love Cervelo for their performence. I was the Swedish importer until about 5 years ago before I decided to go in a another direction.

I was also the HED importer but these wheels where truly American made. Many returns though due to faulty ones.

What I turn against is American and other western country companys using the China to their workers being underpaid and moving pollution from here to them. All to maximize profit.

That unfortunately is the nature of capitalism. It will always seek to maximize profits by sourcing the cheapest labor and materials. Even if business leaders want to treat their employees better, the often have to do this just to survive, because everyone else in their business area is doing it too. There is still slavery in the world also, BTW, and they are making things that we buy.

How about we fix the import duties and start making things here again .

Quality things that last like they used to few years back .

Let the china market dry up and they can consume and copy their own crapy products.

What is wrong with growing rice ???? I dont see a problem at least you cant say its an apple product .

Few very very rich people will be making tons of money and the rest will just go down and down .

It will be interesting what happens with the US in the next few weeks with the debt crisis.

I have tons of family in USA and Love that place . I feel for all those people that were told sorry we are moving our plants to china and mexico . go and work elsewhere now after being with them for 30 yrs.

some of my family members have to travel 2-3 hours to work to keep the jobs .

Is that the American Dream ???

I hope things will change but not looking too promising now

Laws have to be tightened on imports from those places . To equal the value of our products .
