well...i already have one of these on the way...and was wondering if anybody has one..and had Good Results with it? 299-064_L.jpg

Just a FYI - PE recently revised their advertised specifications on this driver - previously they had it rated at 7mm xmax - the revised amount shown on their site is now 5mm xmax

Yes...ive seen that.....tis a pity..but they still look intreasting..:)

in this Case they are Basically the Same as the Daliquist Blue Poly Cone woofers...with diffrent specs of course.

With only 5mm xmax, singly they don't model well as a sub - ok for a woofer.

If you go with multiples, ie: 4 or more, you can get reasonable LF extension - but IMHO for the same cost you could then just get better drivers more suited to sub designs

mhhhhh....well im not going for a Very High Output here....also the Apex Jr Super 8 has 4.9" mm Xmax...yet its still a Fairly Decent Sub...the Cone is 6.5" though...not 8"

i didnt buy the Driver for a HT Sub...but for music, for which it will be Perfectly Adequate.:)

i was going to go with the 7" DVC...it got sold out before i could get one...i think the Daliquist is better...lower FS and a Higher Excursion...5 Verses 3.5...

also consider im on a budget

I guess it all depends on definitions - lol, To me a sub starts about 80 to 100Hz and has lots of output at that level and then extends significantly downward with a F3 somewhere below 20Hz.

The Dahlquist is not particularly sensitive or efficient and combined with the relatively small active cone area limits the ouput level that you can achieve with a single driver. However it models resonably well as a moderate to low output music woofer in a .653 ft^3 vented EBS configuration with a 2.5” x 12.75” port. You do get reasonable output levels and a F3 of about 37Hz within the xmax limit of this driver as illustrated by the attached WinISD plot.

I was considering those drivers. I got the 7" DVC instead. They call it a subwoofer but is definitely a midbass, a quite decent midbass at that, especially for $8 a piece. I got two of them for midbass duty for a three way component set in my car. I am interested to see how your drivers perform since I too was interested in them.

The Daliquist 6.5" Subs are Intreasting They do have a Rather Large Magnet, and have Enough Excursion for a small Subwoofer..id Use Multiples if your Going for High Output...(that and since they are 12 Ohms)...im currently using one to replace the Driver in an Existing sony Sub.
