Have you ever seen this braiding?

To be even compared to Kimber is nice, but we know we are not in their league (at least not yet). They do use better materials and command a much higher price. We still try to get the best quality we can with what we use.

As for the looks, our braiding styles are much different. Furthermore Kimber doesn't produce a 10 conductor series (at least I don't belive so...). I think they have 4, 8, and 16.

And yes, there is a sense of satisfaction completing the braiding yourself!

Thanks,

Frank

Hello everyone!

I'm am curious if anyone has seen braiding like this on cables before. We hand braid 10 silver-coated copper oxide-free multi-strand conductors. 24 AWG.

We currently we do an RCA interconnect, Single-wire speaker cable, and an AC power cord.

Like some feedback. Thanks

Frank
They look good. I wonder if they sound as good as they look.

I like Kimber Cables...I've been buying the GQ-Mini mini->RCA from them.

Thanks Andrea

Thanks Andrea.

Kimber without a doubt has great cables. My sister-in-law has a set a pair of the 8PR. Really nice. For our price, our speaker wire can't compare. But for the price, they do sound good.

I would love to send out cables for people to test and then after a period of time, they would ship them to someone else to try and so on. Think it would work or would it only make it to 1 or 2 people?

Frank

Oh Andrea,

So sad. I understand though. Nevertheless I'm going to send you out a set and if at some point you get around to shipping them out, fine, if not, I hope you like them. The idea you gave me is worth it. Just let me know what you think when you get a chance! Good luck with studies and happy holidays!

Frank

PS It will be the Blacksheep interconnect, the Mars. You can send me your shipping info in private via blacksheepkable@hotmail.com or through the DIYaudio.com mail system.

So if your just getting into this thread. Blacksheep Kable produces a braided cable that utilizes 10 individually insulated silver-coated multi-strand, oxide-free copper conductors. We are currently using Neutrik plugs. Looking to get some feedback from DIYaudio members.

Started a new thread in which I am sending sample interconnects out (since I didn't bring a lot of speaker cables with me this trip) to people who want to test them. All I ask in return is after a month or so, ship them to another member. I will collect the names of all who are interested and forward the address to you on where to send them next. I will never post home addresses but just membership ID's and where the cables are. I hope to start inside the US. The actual cost for shipping 1 interconnect via USPS is probably about $3.

If you are interested, just check out the "Free Blacksheep Kable demo test". I hope this initial run works out. Would also like to send out demos of our speaker cables and AC power cord in the near future.

I sent a idea email to you about your speaker cables and stuff, did you get it Frank ?

Khun Frank,

any chance you can get your sister to get into the diy enclosure business? I know there are several great factories around bkk and this is sorely missing in my opinion. figure a end-user price of about $70 for the chassis. have the member of this forum design the specification and do it as a group buy initially to get around the issue of the shipping costs (grouping shipping and doing surface shipping makes it much cheaper). i think that there are no tariff's for this from thailand, but thats easy to find out from us customs.

secondly i'm in singapore. can i pick up a set of cables while i'm in bangkok? I go there often as i like bangkok as a weekend getaway from singapore.

take care,
Par

That would be nice, some one that made nice cases, and didn't charge MILLION dollars for shipping to canada/usa.

Hello Khun Par!

I will forward the enclosure idea to my sister-in law and our R & D. Although we are trying to stay focused on cables now, we try to look at all options. Our goal for next year is to finish our XLR and by the end of 2010 produce a good HDMI.

I won't be back into Bangkok until the end of January, but we have a few shops that carry them. Planet Laser on Rama 3 is in Bangkok. You can e-mail me and I can give you a phone number to call.

HDMI cables ? you going to have a huge factory ?

We'll see...

We have ideas without consequences. If we make a HDMI, it will have to be good, the rest comes later.

It's been about 6 months since Blacksheep entered the Thai market agressively. We're now in shops and advertise with their version of Stereophile Magazine called Audiophile Magazine.

For 6 months, thats not so bad. I've been doing business for about 25 years. One thing I know is that it very rarely happens over night.

Check out our website www.blacksheep.com and see our LCR test results. Surprisingly low or they would not be very marketable.

I do appreciate the feedback!

Frank

Well it's an innovative web site. It's flashy. While it is not immediately apparent how to navigate, it only takes one to two seconds to figure it out (a little game). It treads the fine line between artsy and irritating. However, I didn't find the LCR curves before I reach my irritation limit. So I left. Now if I wanted a web site built, I would be intrigued; but I still would not contact you because I couldn't find the information you directed me too (after several minutes of searching).

OT Rant:
In the last couple of years I have been searching Chinese sites for motors as part of my job. There are a surprising number that use worthless animations that soaked up bandwidth and delay one's access to information. (I give points to blacksheep for avoiding that.) However, the web designers miss the point that I am trying to find information as fast as possible. I am not amused by the animations. Luckily(?) my employer didn't realize how much money they spent on my salary as I waded through someone's idea of a cute animation display or film clip. I think this trend may be thankfully reversing. My other web site complaint is when scanned literature is posted. Since it is a graphic, tools like using "find" or "selecting text" are made useless.
:Rant Over

BTW: While I stand by my above comments and rant, I did find the LCR numbers at:

Blacksheep Kable - Bangkok, Thailand

I have no idea if they are related to Black Sheep, Inc. - Media Content and Production for TV and Internet

Edit: Well time for a third rant: I find the new DIYaudio "feature" of replacing URLs with the alias pretty irritating as well (I really am mild-mannered, despite this thread). Here I am comparing the www."blacksheep".com URL to www."blacksheepkable".com. The alias removes all meaning to my comments.
