Good move Grufti. Base line quantities have been covered already as I see.

Now...tell us more about the music, you must have it almost completely broken in by now.:D

That was a lot easier than I expected. There is only member in the old wiki who I couldn't reach without climbing through lots of hoops.

We'll see what kind of demand that message might trigger.

I got my B1 up and running. My voltages are a bit off. +10.72 /-10.28 Also My first pair of fets is running a bit hot. I believe sinking is in order. My transformer is running a bit high, so I think I have a bit more power to dissipate than one might need. Hopefully I will get time tomorrow morning to finish up the input/output wiring and drop in my noble pot. I am off to visit family for the weekend, so I would like to get you all some results before I leave.
As a side note, I missed the jumper from center tap to the caps. Sneaky little bugger that one was. Hiding right under the center tap wire. Thank goodness for the recently posted schematics. They are what pointed me in the right direction. That and the obvious question of "why are those pads not soldered?"

Here is a pic of my progress.

Looks good. Check your output offset, and if good, don't trim the +side with lower Vf leds. Important: Did you get a chatter in the output relay?

P.S. You may use 2X82R instead of 2X68R if your trafo is a bit high, and maybe avoid sinks if not having them handy.

Hello all,
I finally finished the Lightspeed! ( an issue or two, but I'll take that to the other thread) Hooray, it was a very enjoyable project, too.
Back to the DC-B1. I was surprised at the difference in the sound with the LS connected. Salas was right (of course!) The sound stage is wider and unbelievably the sound is more defined. I am going to let everything settle down and I'll report back.
This is one sweet project, and the combo is very powerful, IMHO.:cloud9::cheers:

It is now up and running. Music is playing. Very different than the old Harmon Kardon pre amp I have been using. Very nice. It will of course need some burn in for real listening impression. I just jumpered the input selector to get sound going. I have been pushing the envelope with the wife and now need to focus on our trip this afternoon, but no issues I have found worth mentioning.

Actually I am surprised at how much punch and power it has. Driving a gainclone, I am hard pressed to get of the second detente in the pot. I think I may need a higher impedance pot. Thanks for this great layout and support. This will undoubtedly result in many a nicely built B1.

Nicely done! Now, imagine your gainclone powered by the high current salas shunt :D
