What a great project! One of the best parts of DIY is impressing your non-technical friends with the fruits of your labor. But this... This is mad scientist DIY! It would impress your technically oriented friends. They would also question your sanity for even attempting such a project. It is truly one of the most fun projects I heard of in some time. I'm excited to see the results.
I'll let you know when I finish the 2nd channel.
whazzat with one ( OK - Thousand) hand(s) clapping ?
not good enough in mono .....
Is it worth to form the preamp out of,let's say...20 of jfets?
No, unless you want to build a phono stage - and then you need quite a bit more than only jfets.
Have fun, Hannes
It's slow going. You will see some other project first -
something that you will be able to actually build.
Maybe those B2 boards sitting in the corner waiting to make their way into our homes?

My Hafler SE-100 already has about that many Jfets, if you count both the line and phono stages....
It's slow going...
Matching 1000 pairs takes time?
Actually I could see a small benefit in not matching as the conductance spread over 1000 pairs could smooth out the x-over non-linearity of the OPS, or what does Mr. Nelson think?
Cheers Michael
