About to press the button on Mouser... BUT: the BOM description says 1/4W resistors, yet the part numbers are 1/8W – size is a little different – which is right does anyone know?

Looking at Pete's BOM he's specing all RN55 resistors (very nice since they are small and the values are labeled on the body)... you can search this online but that series of Dales are mil-spec which are "underrated", so an 1/8W resistor is 1/4W in actuality. You are good to go.

That's understandable, I do the same thing! Yah, those resistors are my go to most of the time. Only exception might be if I spot a PRP red colored 1% resistor at Parts Connexion or something.

Everything is on it's way and I'm extremely excited! Went with a battery supply as it was working out about the same price as a linear.

You will hear different takes about battery supplies, but I am in the camp that strongly supports this thinking as well as doing a preamp the same way. The obvious benefit is that your unit cannot create hum. To me, that worth the effort all by itself.

I have it up and running, it sounds excellent... but it's very low gain, wonder if I've done something wrong? I understand it should be about 40dB of gain, I'd guess I'm getting less than 30 comparing with my Schiit Mani 2. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Check all your resistors, of course, but my impression is that LR Phono is a little less gain than a typical MM phonostage.

…and that it sounds much better than most!

Just curious. What is the gain of the Mani?

I pre-checked all the components but I guess I could have damaged some soldering. I’ll go through the board again.

Mani was set at 42dB.

What’s the output of your cart? I was running the LR with low output MCs… with a SUT of course… the carts are all different outputs however..
