Default The better Betsy

Anyone out here own more than 1 type of Betsy? If so, which one do you prefer and why?

I would’ve thought there might be more response to this...

I guess I’ll kick it off and say that the house sound is present in all 3 drivers. They all use the same cone and basket. Then it depends on usage.

Of course the alnico sits on top. At first I thought the differences were subtle, but not anymore.

Can you describe the differences?

I’m going to build a small(ish) self contained stereo with a vintage sound. Something akin to an old console stereo, but small enough to sit on a table. About the size of a small suitcase. I’ve got a small SET amp which will be driving these. I am definitely leaning towards the AlNiCo.

I started a thread about the alnico drivers on the Decware Audio forum ..

A few comments were made, including some by Steve Deckert.

The things useful to this thread start around reply # 19.

Forums - NEW !!! Alnico Betsy baffles HERE NOW !!!

I hope this information is helpful ..

Happy listening,
Randy
