AK4490 USB Dac with dsd support.

Yes i have the parts here in my drawer for it. But I do not have the funds to build a stock and buy purifi amp to test it. But if you can find enough people, then I could make a discrete frontend in no time (literally speaker) for it.

Sonny,

I can send you the Purifi and Hypex parts if you wanted to work on this type of project. Just let me know...

Thanks,
Robert

I think this thread needs to be renamed.

In the light of AKM is out of the game, i have made this new board. It is actually a version 2.

Now this is a ES9038PRO board. The existing output shields can be used or a current output shield can be used instead, the gain modules are the same.

It has 2 optical, two RCA and 1 USB.

I have used weeks in optimizing the PCB around the DAC actually the complete board.

It is in the press. First boards arrive next week.

So for a beginning old output shields can be used on it and later upgraded.

Sonny,

Any ideas on how you will handle the "ESS Hump?"

Thanks,
Robert

Hi Sonny

Happy New Year! I hope you are doing well!

Any news on this new ESS DAC? Could I simply exchange your 1.2a DAC with the AKM 4493 with this new board and use the balanced shield? As you know, the USB input doesn't work on the old board...

Thanks and best regards

Noël

I am very happy that I finally managed to finish this project with Sonny's TSSA V4 amplifier. I made a dual mono variant, with 2x52VAC / 1000VA transformer, with RIFA PEH169 capacitors. These modules were bought some time ago and I tested them with the classic + 50VDC PSU. They sounded good, but not so much that I thought of finalizing them in a case. But after an accident, I fed them with - + 72VDC and I was very surprised by what I heard.
I don't have the talent to describe the sound, but I can say that it beats any amplifier I made in class AB (some of them are Goldmund 9.2, Telos 400, Accuphase 701)
Very detailed, huge dynamics, fast bass and fist, I just love it.
I would like to thank Sonny with all my heart for all his products and for all his help over the years. He is a great talent and I am very happy to have met him through this forum. I wish him good health and I hope that we will hear from him wonderful things in the field of audio.

WOW!!! Nice build.

Vtalica - Wow, wow and wow. The looks... And if the sound from the V2 boards that I have lying on Sonny's shelf, waiting for me to order an amp built is just half as good, I guess I have something good in store :) Thanks a lot for sharing, Vitalica
