unfortunately there are different configurations possible with HDMI.
DCK= bit clock
D1=L/R frame clock or one ch of DSD
D2=Data 2ch PCM or one ch of DSD
don't forget ground

Update: The McFifo is still available and ordered. Thanks for the suggestion it looks like it will be the perfect solution.

The 32 bit limitation is how the built in Mac driver reports the interface in Audio Midi Setup. It may also be a limitation of the firmware that I am running on the Mini DSP MCH Streamer. All Rate does pass 32 bit for 8 channels, but I2s + SPDIF seems to default to 24. Obviously SPDIF is limited to 24 but I am not sure what the other 8 can receive.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to verify the bit depth of connection between the mac and the streamer?

Keep in mind, that when you mix input/output types you are limited to the commonly supported modes by all. Otherwise, the XMOS chip will have to do resampling and clock synchronization which could be very resource intensive (I'm sure it can be done, but I doubt XMOS would write the firmware for it).

"HDMI interface (non-standard HDMI interface):
differential I2S signal with LVDS output level"

So one possible solution you would need a teleporter to convert the balanced lvds to the signals you need to feed your dac.

"HDMI" Receiver DAC
bit clock is on 4 and 6 connects to any teleporter pair such as 3 and 6 output from teleporter on 0 and ground to DCK
LR clock is on 7 and 9 connects to any teleporter pair such as 4 and 5 output from teleporter on 1 and ground to D1
Data is on 1 and 3 connects to any teleporter pair such as 1 and 2 output from teleporter on 2 and ground to D2
if running synchronous you will also need master clock on 10 and 12 connects to any teleporter pair such as 7 and 8 output from teleporter on 3 and ground to master clock
