my mistake - if you flip Legato you don't invert signal phase, you only reverse left and right channels (relative to the board's markings, not the DAC's output).

When trying different non-standard components on the Legato I would make one recommendation: try to avoid long lead lengths which do not fit the board well (like enormous capacitors with long bent leads to the board, etc). Remember that this board is adjacent to a DAC, with a fair amount of airborne RF just looking for an antenna to get into the circuitry.
