A GU-50 SET driven by a 6EM7. I was trying to make something small like the Dynaco ST-35. I started working on this amp in Spring of 2012 after some threads by Wavebourne. It has only taken me 7 years to finish it...
Wowww very good looking amp, for sure it takes you long time but the care on details is outstanding, I like the combination of lamination and aluminium very very nice congrats so enjoy the music ;)

Perhaps a stupid question: What are these (for me) strange looking frames around two of the tubes? Could not see if it are tubes though....

That's a special frame that keeps the tube in place mechanically, so installed in a MiG-fighter the tube will nicely sit in place, whatever the airplane does. Besides, the tube can also be pushed into the socket in different ways and the frame has a guide that steers the tube into the right position. There are more advanced sockets like this one. You can see the slot at the bottom of this pic. The tube has a ridge that fits that slot.

I would like to add that there are sockets without the frame, and using them you must be very observant to stick the tube into the socket correctly, else you will kill the tube instantly - been there, done that.

Here's a "naked" socket and you see the "key". Missing that and you will loose a tube.

Btw the GU50 are wellknown for their sound qualities and can be found pretty cheap here and there.

Hi. In the meantime I committed such a "toddler". Includes: Digital FM radio, Bluetooth, EQ, micro SD / USB reader, aux input, manual tone adjustment. Audio amplifier on 5670 and EL95 tubes, power output 2 x 3W. The whole is controlled from the remote control.

nice project! you should start a new thread and tell folk more about it.

Ok, here they go...

Some of the OUTSIDE first

811-10 mono blocks

It took me much longer than I thought and it's not really finished yet... I will give it a proper casement, but here is a working 811-10 based on Eric Barbour's design...
