That's a pretty little amp.

Not my build, but here is my friend's just finished 5D22/4-400A monoblocks. All C-core power transformers, chokes and output transformers were done by himself. Probably the best amp I've heard, even when it's a bit compromised due to limited available space. I owned some GM70 and 845 amps before. It sounds so good that I'm planning to have a 845 driving 5D22 with 866A rectifiers built soon.

Search "so45" on eBay. In the case of that amp, there are 4 1V meters which are connected across 1R for bias monitoring, 2 500V meters and one 20V meter for the voltages. They are direct connection type meters.

Is the 4-400a wired triode or pentode? needs a lot or air at high voltages 14 cubic ft

Thanks Koda...those meters are 3 a pop on ebay UK, how long have yours lasted? To be honest they look like cheap sh*t. However to get the same quantity of decent meters you'd be looking at one hundred times that price. Then and again, on the other hand you could be buying meters that fall to bits after a week.

Hells teeth, the way of the amp fettler is hard, what we all need is patron's with lots of cash who'd be happy to pay us to build amps all day and give us a few grand for parts : )

Andy.

I've never had one fail yet. Only thing I wish it was backlit, but it is nice that it's directly connected.
