it really looks lovely. How do you feed the pcm1792 DAC? With USB or via
SPDIF? Is the DAC section in that casing as well?

Hi Ulf,
It is quite straightforward design derived from my not so advanced level. This box is only tubes, nothing digital in it. The "DAC" is a PC audio card - Asus Essence STX ii - with modified psu and output. I simply take the output pins of PCM 1792 and feed them to the tubes.

Tube-Stage/PSU in? Kinda looks like a housing for a

It is a computer housing. I use the same for my audio PC to match appearance. I had to strip it down from front and rear panel and inner subchassis but for 50 euro - at a local eshop - including ATX psu is irresistible!

That's what appealed to me with the design, it is really a simple setup that even with being my first build I was able to understand the basics of what was happening throughout.
The online help coupled with a Dad that learned tube electronics from the Navy got me through the questions I did run into.

The blue glow had me worried at first, I hadn't seen tubes do that before.

The problem is I really want to build more but there are only so many amps a person can use



Someday those words in that order will make more sense to me. For now, much of that design is over my head.

Not all tubes will glow like that. Usually big HTs will get them going.

My Elekit Amp and Pre amp.

Elekit Tu 8200 and TU 8500 were my inspiration to re-enter audio DIY. Assembly was not so difficult though I had lost touch of audio & electronics DIY quite some time ago. The satisfaction after completion was immense. The kit looks professionally finished. The sound is so much absorbing. A few photos.

Changed the LED of TU 8500 to blue to match the blue of TU 8200. They match the blue hue from the tubes

I like it

I just finished a 2 in one preamps / main amplifier didn't wanted single preamps so I decided to combine all 3 into one cabinet works great too, preamps are 1@ 12ax7 and the other is a 6H9C switching from one to the other through a JJ E34L main SE amplifier, the bass is excellent midrange is also great very happy with the way it turned out. next project will be a 6N3C main amp with 6SH8 / 6H8C preamps for jazz music.

thanks Bigun for the comment. A good amount of your compliment should go to Elekit . Enjoying the new found sound of tubes. Now the amp has KT88 on it.

This is a preamp I' ve built some years ago. It's SE and served well for a long time, but since the main system moved to balanced topology, it is now being prepared for a new life in another system.

Actually it was used as DAC output stage based on 6n16b (the small PCB in the up left the rest of the box being a semi-dual PSU). Now it's going to get an input configuration for line stage.
