Hi,

Dual 6J5GT can be directly replaced 6SN7?

So if project use 2 6J5GT, can I use 1 6SN7 instead?

You can even the inter-electrode capacitance's are smaller ( a good thing ) but obviously the bases are different .


All other parameters are identical except the heater current .

Yes , the 6SN7 was looked on as an equivalent electrical replacement ( at the time ) for the 6J5 as it saved a tube stage and had near identical specs.


Some might like a whole lot of tubes to light up but you cant argue with identical specifications ( apart from the base and 0.6 heater current ).

2 each 6J5 have a total of 0.6A filament current.

1 each 6SN7 has a total of 0.6A filament current.

It does not get any more equal than that.

(In a circuit with 2 triodes, the heater current is the same).

save space of Amplifier chassis by changing 6J5GT to 6SN7

reduce from 2 x 6J5GT to only 1 6SN7
