These are the best looking tube amps I have ever seen

mmm, dont really remember. that $32,000/pair of mono-blocks is quite high, but I seem to remember seeing something in the 80K range (no idea what is is though)

Thats the fun thing about valves to me. The amps look great in their simplest form and yet they lend themselves to really elaborate looking things as well.

Yup, that's a lot. But not unheard of. Don't Lamm's and ML cost in that range?

Anyway why not list them as such? They're probably one of a kind and doesn't want to part with them fo anything less than something astronomical.

And you could think of them a art first, audio second. Then a few dozen kilobux isn't incomparable to other original art.

Well, they may not be the most expensive but,
purely on aesthetics I get a big techno-stiffy
for the 50's "Forbidden Planet" look:

Clear anodizing, thick cut glass, indirect lighting,
big knobs, analog gauges--they make me happy. :cloud9:

One of the great things about tubes is
indeed the aesthetics, and there are
all sorts of looks that appeal to me--
even some that I might actually be
able to build. :D

Sooooooooo many tubes.

Tubes, ahhh...

Yes, and I like how various banks of (Class A) tubes can be switched off,
depending upon one's volume (and heating) needs. :D

dont know if that is each or for the pair

I'm sure it is for the pair. $103K each would be excessive. :clown:

This is why I dont read audio industry rags and tend to
avoid "high-end" stores with their legions of uptight
***holes who pontificate on what is "the best". It's kinda
like going to a BMW showroom and having to listen to the
elitist snobbery of the salesmen who they themselves
cannot afford to purchase anything other than an entry
3-series.

I earned my 845s and Merc power supply with my own
blood sweat tears and time. I live with them. They are a part
of my life, not another "Rolex" to be worn for status and show.
They are part artistic showpeice, part engineering but they are
truly mine. They arent worth $100,000 though. Just a month
of time and some cheap parts.

I'm more interested in what is attainable and beautiful.

Philosophical Pontification

Fair enough, Jim. That is certainly a reasonable and healthy attitude. :happy2:

At the same time, this is one area where it is possible, to warp a homily, to enjoy a cake without eating it. :) In other words, I find that I can appreciate the unobtainable and excessive, without feeling inferior or desperate. :magnet:

I find that the same attitude of zen observation allows me to appreciate yachts, expensive cars and trophy wives, without the associated costs. ;) As Elton John sang, "Some things are better, just passing through." :yinyang:

I agree, Milo.

Well, you may have seen it before, but check
out this page from VSAC 2003:

It's another of Josh's creations, and certainly
an eyecatcher. :yikes:

On the "bright" side, there's little chance
one will forget that it's on.
