I have 2 of these and really like them for the money - around £30. Replaced the original tubes with GE and Russian tubes and they sound good.
I was thinking of getting a better power supply at some point in the future. Looked at medical grade power supplies with very low ripple and they are much cheaper than audiophile power supplies.

IMHO, The real issue with these cheap 6J1 buffer preamp is its low operating voltage, + and - 12V * 2 or 48 volts absolute B+. By making it 12.00 V instead of 13.xx V (from the cheap wall plug-in), you likely be going the wrong direction and make things worst. I would put the new power supply money toward a line amp with a real high voltage supply.
