Default Soundhappy, don't want to hijack your thread....

but I couldn't resist the Japanese fixation with the QUAD II. I had a Hammond 270FX and two 1608 transformers hanging around and built one of the EL84 QUAD "clones". JJ EL84s and Russian EF86 equivalents. Russian K40-Y coupling caps. I subbed a GZ34 instead of silicon for the B+ supply and I (over?) indulged the Japanese fetish for filter chokes using three small Hammonds. I also made the EL84 cathode bias adjustable a la diytube.com Dynaclone. Sound? Not bad. Only about 10 watts. Sounds fine in a workshop system driving a small pair of Wharfedale Diamonds.

Cheers, Steve
