I am on the fence about just trying to replace a pin or two or just do the whole socket. I want it to look original so replacing a pin is ideal but my gut is saying the molding compound is the problem. I wanted to know if it was a possibility first which now my suspicion is confirmed as Mike has come across this too.

It turned out to be the grounds after all.

I replaced some more pins to no avail. Then I cut the noval socket shield ground which was attached to another tag board and no more noise when wiggling the socket. When wiggling the tag board the noise was present so I attached that ground wire to a known good ground and all is well.

So anything connected to the tag boards that needs a ground they use the mechanical fastener to the chassis as a ground, problem is they are rivets and loose and corroded.

It's been playing for hours and you can wiggle any tube with zero noise :)

Thanks all who helped me!!
