Hi, I just saw (after 3 years) these 4P10C tubes still sitting on a shelf here and I wonder if you tried them?

Since then I built some amps with them. Gorgeous!

Apparently this 4P10C tube was a copy of the British VT-127D and Mazda PEN46, which have the old British "octal" base. (does not fit current octal base)

Yes, the PEN46 is on the Mazda Octal (MO) base. Good pentode, but AEI's refusal to adopt the International standard octal looks like an attempted monopolistic manœuvre that went bad.

Excellent, so in my next amp the finals will be 4P10C. As I have to build a power amp with 6146's ppp (4pcs/ch) the 4P10C's may temporarily sit in one channel. G2's are powered through tertiary windings, Acrosound style. The Mazda octal sockets thanks to PRC are already here!

The pen46 looks very similar to the Mazda 6P28.
Only 6,3V and IO base. Equally rare it seems.
One of the many on the to-do list.

I made one amp using Raytheon VT127/CV1127 made for RAF. The sound and working conditions are like 4П10С, but the tube internally is different. Instead of flat cathode, grids and anode, it uses internals similar to 807, oval-shaped.
What is funny, tubes were never de-classified, so it is impossible to find printed data except test conditions. They were used in radar monitors, were quite linear for better pictures, unlike later sweep tubes that worked in pulse mode.

The only minus of Raytheon VT-127 tubes is, their Mazda bases are pretty fragile! I damaged 2 of them while pulling out of sockets, like I always do, slightly shaking around. Probably, because thin plastic is 70 years old...

Maybe one could remove the old tube base with a vacuum de-solderer and replace that with a modern octal base.

Or use individual wire lead pin sockets, assuming they are 3 mm diameter:

and/or maybe use:
4pc Octal Gold plated CMC tube Socket adapter bare PCB 2.0mm thicker | eBay
