Has anyone built an OTL amp with switch mode power supplies.

I was wondering if any one has jumped in the deep end and actually built a true transformerless tube amp using smps technology in luie of conventional power supplies ?

If so how did it work and sound. What tubes did you use and power supplies ?

( I have a lot of computer power supplies on hand which would do for the heaters but nothing suitable for the B+ rails. )

SMPS for B+?

People hate SMPS. “Too noisy”, “All that hash will kill the music”.

What an utter load of rubbish, a case of people not understanding the issues. My 1kW hardswitched PFC 600V B+ running at 75Khz....here's spectrum......

I used a laptop power brick through a linear regular for the heaters on a headphone amp. I defiantly recommend it. I got it on ebay for under 5 dollars. I mean, with that low of a price you can't say no. However it eliminates any/all FM Radio reception on my tuner if its too close to it.
