Hi,
bias is around -35V but I found that this can vary a lot between PL509s, so a large bias setting range is helpful.

I did measure distortion but I donīt remember the exact values. Well below 1% at 1W and still below 10% at 10W iirc.

I'd be interested in one (or both) of the 6CW4's.

Throwing out a request for advice. Attached are some pictures of the biggest $1 tubes I have acquired.

From left to right:
"super 6BG6GA" (not $1!)
GE 19BG6GA
Raytheon 19BG6GA
21EX6
36LW6

I was wondering if you knew or had tested or had a guess at which could work in triode service for decent power, i.e. which ones might work at above the rated screen maximum voltage if triode strapped.

I'll quote you their published screen ratings to save you time.

19BG6GA: 350V, 3.2W
21EX6: 195V, 3.5W
36LW6: 280V, 7.0W

Oh, I've had those a while, I doubt you could find those for $1 today.

There is a thread using the 36Lw6 as a triode at 300 volts for 72 watts; hard to imagine 72 watts from only 300 volts
Question about RLa-a for *LW6 in triode connection?

Phil

Not really. He's using 320V @ 120mA; that's 38.4W per 36LW6, so getting 75W from each PP pair isn't that hard to imagine.
