Bought something exactly like this (except for top cover and trafo) from ebay:

I had thought "kit" meant I put it together but it came as pictured. OK, but I'd rather know how it works. anyone any knowledge with this one? Seller does not have a schematic, and it is a simple circuit but dual layered. BTW the "volume" control seems to be a 50k pot on the output which strikes me as less than ideal.
