OPT fore drive ribbon speaker directly; why not ?

driving a ribbon directly would be like a shortet output

Probably obvious, but why isnt it possible ?

One of the Raal ribbons has a transformer for direct drive from a tube amp.

I'm also sure that there is a thread here related to driving VERY low impedanes such as a ribbon would represent.

Papa Pass says its possible to make a solid state amp that would drive very low impedences such as ribbons directly but that he doesn't have time to do everything!

ofcourse; will likely be foil secondary, (or a lot of parallel strands)

wires in speaker, wires in transformer,
foil in speaker, foil in transformer,
no conductor in speaker (esl) no (condustor in a) transformer ;p

(in general for tubes that is)
