I have a transformer with two 18 volt secondaries. is this too much voltage for the filament constant current circuit? Thanks for any help

bubba177 - does it have dual primaries? You could wire it for 240v, and get 1/2 the voltage on the secondaries, and that might work... But I'd still put a decent size heatsink on the LM317's, as it still has a lot of voltage to regulate away (by turning it into heat)

It does but trannie also has b+ and rectifier. So that won't work. Right now i'm using lm7812 fixed with 12v6. Was trying to be able to use new tung sol 6v6 using the 18v filaments. Guess adding a small trannie is best option what do you think?

Wire heaters in series and use one filament regulator. Easy.

one secondary was only designed to power 3 12ax7's which is about 45ma I think, which is one 6v6. i have to use both secondaries one per tube

With that much drop you'll need a Big heatsink on the regulators.

how about putting regs in parallel and then powering two 6v6 in series?

I know that it has been stated that the input Z of the amp receiving the signal from this preamp should be 15-20k, but how strict is that?

Can I run the 6v6 gain version, with 3uF output caps, 2ft max cabling, into the unbuffered version of this ncore amp with input Z of 5.3k ohms?

https://www.hypex.nl/img/upload/doc/...tasheet_R8.pdf

RC calculation says the roll-off is 10hz, and I believe the gain version output Z is 1.5k, so should be sufficient? What would be the negative repercussions if any?

If not enought juice, can I run two 6v6s in parallel?
