Pictures of your Tubelab amp

I am pathological when it comes to fixing up little things that don't need fixing. I had ordered some little VU meters and a driver board a while back and after testing them with the SSE to make sure it worked well I made a new top panel. It's not perfect but it at least has the layout sorted so I can waterjet a final version once the pandemic calms down and I have access to the university facilities in the fall. Going to a conductive top panel will also let me simplify the grounding as there is currently a lot going on underneath to keep things safe.

I went with a separate 12v AC transformer for the VU meter driver board to keep things relatively isolated from the tubelab circuit and feel like I have run out of room inside the body. Also switched to ultralinear without CFB on the KT88's and really like the sound through my La Scalas.

Wow! Some really nice looking work in these pages!
I bought this SSE board in 2008 and it only took 12 years to finish. After all that time I spent about 12 minutes finding a chassis for it. Triode only but sounds great. Ive got it playing in my shop right now.

Wow - that chassis is really well done! The fit and finish look excellent. In fact, it took me several minutes to see what you'd done for the top and bottom plates (it looked a bit like stone or Corian at first glance). What did you use for the color, an aniline dye?

Gotta love getting an email notification about a comment like...3 months later.

Anyway, it's an ebony oil stain on birch plywood, two coats and then three coats of poly to seal it after. I'm really happy with how it turned out despite the plywood being a little low quality, paper thin veneer made it stressful to work with.

Tubelab SPP - EL84

Recently finished this amp and I'm really happy with it... it sounds awesome with Klipsch Quartet speakers.

Some details:
* Hammond iron - PT, OPT, Choke
* SS diodes with CLCRC PSU resulting in 315V B+
* Chassis by Landfall Systems

I tried various EL84's such as JJ, Amperex (Austria), Matsushita (Japan) and 6P14P-EV... all sounded great.

FFT's are of 1W and 9W output.
