^ Do you think it should come to that? Would it be naiive of me to say that the nations of Airbus, and the US are friends, allies. It may be the competition that caused some of us to trip over our own toes.

Given the long running argument over airbus launch aid less friendly than you might think.

Thread should be changed to Boeing 737-8200 as they followed Trumps advice and rebranded the 737 Max.

No they didn't if you read to the end of the articles. That has always been an official type for that model.

Looks like they removed the "737 MAX" and just calls it 737-8200. I would call that a rebrand.

I don't think it's a proper order but a "Letter of Intent".
Definition:
In a nutshell, the letter of intent is generally used to cover all non-binding preliminary agreements between parties to a transaction. ...

I expect BA could walk away if they wanted to.

Quote on this below
Quote:
The European Union Aviation Safety Agency had been referring to the 737-8200 in documents such as its 2015 annual activity report, published in June 2016, almost a year before the first ever 737 Max delivery.
This designation has frequently been included in US federal regulatory filings from Boeing and the US FAA since at least early 2017.

Also note the airline specifies what is painted on the plane.

A reported loss of $3.7B in the last fiscal quarter, and potential to shut down production of the 737 Max8 for an as yet undetermined duration - sounds like more than a minor blip to me. Boeing says it might have to shut down 737 Max production - CNN

If this would only affect a single company, one might almost posit it's deserved, but the ripples throughout at least the entire US economy could be "rather troublesome"
