Open air, small and intimate
The three best concerts I have ever attended are in order of time:
An open air full orchestra in a botanical garden
An Al Jarreau concert with an audience of not more than a thousand five hundred people (absolutely awesome despite not ideal acoustics - 'twas in a round dome shaped auditorium)
An organ recital in an auditorium at my work (University) with a capacity of roughly 450. 'tis only a small organ but with one of South Africa's top rated organists (Ockert Vermeulen)
fine - never really done pub gigs. But there's plenty of small venues in these parts where you get quality new bands, and well know musos, with no aggro, just folk wanting to listen... Lucky, perhaps.
