Heating water for coffee - efficiently.

People spend money unnecessarily all the time. how else is western consumer society going to survive?

We drink Italian style coffee over here. This is our traditional device for preparing espresso, called "kotyogó" (= ~blabber). We like it strong!

No idea how good a job it does on either coffee or beer, but an interesting idea.

I would not even think of using a microwave oven to heat up water as it is more hassle and actions than this way.

For me it's no hassle at all. I do it 'cause I'm lazy. Put water in coffee press, place press into microwave oven. Punch the number 2. Water hot.
